The Guest lecture was organized by IETE-SMEC under Communications Society. The main Agenda of this session was to get a complete idea on Digital Signal Processing. This session was carried out by Mrs.Tirupathamma Currently working as Associate professor at JNTU, Jagithyala in Electronics and communications department. She has published many international journals and also guiding M.Tech projects. Professor explained about FIR Filters and IIR Filter. Professor not only gave guest lecture on Digital Signal Processing but also gave tips on MATLAB which is a Basic Simulation, How to read electronics subjects and tips for that is also given which were very useful to an electronics and communication studying engineer. Students took active participation by listening and also noted down the important points given by the Professor. She not only gave lecture on the subject but what kind of projects can also be developed using MATLAB and various subjects.

The Online International Conference on "Intelligent Systems, Electrical and Communication Technology-2021 (ICISECT–21)" was hosted by the Departments of Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. ICISECT-21 aims to provide a common platform to all the leading academic scientist, researchers, research scholarsto exchange and share their experience and innovative ideas in the latest technologies in different areas like Intelligence Systems, Power Electronics, Communication Technology etc..This conference provided an inter disciplinary platform for academicians, researchers and other experts from various fields to present their novel ideas, discuss their thoughts as well as the challenges encountered and solutions to be adopted in the emerging areas of engineering and technology. The Programme was Initiated by Patron Dr P. Santosh Kumar Patra. During his address note, Principal Sir emphasized the important role of conferences to build a proper career for researchers as well as academicians in advanced areas of engineering and technology. Later the event was corresponded by eminent keynote speaker,Chief Guest Dr Srinivas Nowduri, Professor, Department of Computer Information systems, Pueblo Community College,
USA. Convenor of conference Dr. B. Hari Krishna, Prof. & HoD, ECE, Dr. N Ramchandra, Prof & HOD of EEEheaded the conference along with committee members.Around 200 faculty and research scholars from various engineering college/Universities were participated in the program from all over the country.
Glimpses of the Event
The two-day conference i.e., on 09-04-2021&10-04-2021 was organized in two sessions perday. The Inaugural session started at 10:30AM by congratulating all the participants with a motivational speech followed by conference proceeding inauguration by the Patron Dr P. Santosh Kumar Patra, Principal, SMEC. Later a short and informative session was conveyed by Chief Guests Dr Srinivas Nowduri, Professor, Department of Computer Information systems, Pueblo Community College, USA. Sir delivereda wonderful session on “IOT Security” till 12:00PM.
As the aim of the conference was to create opportunity to academicians, research scholars to present their research and share their views, the time came, and all the participants presented their papers in the respective field heading by the Dignitaries as session chairs from 12:00 PM to 1:30PM. It is followed by the session II from 2:00PM to 3:30PM. The session was closed for the Day I.
On Day-2, session 3 was started at 10.30AM, as all the participants utilized the wonderful opportunity and participated very enthusiastically as the Day 1. The undergraduate students presented their innovative projects and utilized our ICISECT–21online platform. The faculties from various colleges also presented their innovative ideas in this platform.
The valedictory session was started at 2.00PM. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. B. Hari Krishna, Prof. & HoD, ECEcongratulating all the participants from various parts of the country. At the end of the Conference the proceedings were placed on the Website www.smec.ac.in for the easy access to the participants. The feedback is collected from all the participants through google form. The response and experiences feedback were excellent from the participants and are interested to be the part of the event in the future.

The Department of ECE, St. Martin’s Engineering College organized its first ONLINE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SMART MODERNISTIC IN ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION (ICSMEC-2020) on 29/06/2020 & 30/06/2020. ICSMEC-20 served as a colloquy for sharing the proficiency among academicians, researchers, scientists and industrial personnel from all over the world in the areas of engineering and technology.
Inaugural:
The conference was inaugurated by our beloved Principal sir, Dr. P. Santosh Kumar Patra, with his astonishing welcome speech which is always motivational and fruit bearing. Following which the Principal sir, Dr. P. Santosh Kumar Patra released the ICSMEC-2020 Conference Proceedings cover pages.
The Guest of Honour for the conference was Dr. Jonathan Montero Cansino, PECE, CCNA, MCP, Quality Assurance Head, Electrical & Electronics Engineering Section, Higher College of Technology, Muscat. He highlighted the importance of the virtual gathering as the theme of our conference during the pandemic situation. We also had a proficient resource person and Chief Guest, Dr. Gunasekaran Thangavel, Program Director (Telecommunication Specialization), Sultanate of Oman presented his enlightening speech on “Multimode Antennas for 5G Wireless Network”.
We are glad to inform you that we have received more than 450 papers from Industrialists, Research Scholars, Professors, Faculty members and Students out of which 266 were scrutinized and registered from various institutions all over the world. The papers were sent to various reputed reviewers from various IITs and NITs and other premier institutions including internal ECE professors. The review comments were shared with all the authors and acceptance letters were sent to the selected papers writers. At theend, Camera ready papers were collected for the conference proceedings and Journal Publication as per the author’s consent.
Conference Presentations:
The presentation session was categorized into 6 tracks and it was coordinated by internal faculty members as external session chair in each. The participated Industrialists, Research Scholars, Professors, Faculty members and Students were well equipped with the sound knowledge through the purposeful interactions afforded in each presentation, as could be summed up from the feedbacks received from the session chairs. Each paper ID was allotted a time slot of 12 minutes wherein 10 minutes were for presentation and 2 minutes for Q&A.
Keynote Speaker:
Dr. Viji Priya, Professor in University of Hail, Saudi Arabia joined us as a Keynote Speaker. She addressed with a welcome speech and congratulated all participants for their active participation in the virtual gathering. The topic “Network Security using Machine Learning” was elaborated by madam.. Following which, we had participants’ presentations.
Valedictory:
Finally, the conference was concluded with a valedictory session in the presence of our admirable Principal sir, Dr. P. Santosh Kumar Patra followed by an address by the Chief Guest Dr. Gunasekaran Thangavel, Program Director (Telecommunication Specialization), Sultanate of Oman. Sir expressed his pleasure for being a part of such a great international online conference and appreciated the Principal, HOD and the entire ICSMEC team for taking up such an initiative in bringing all the great eminent professors, scholars, students and industrial personnel under a single platform enabling us have harvest of ideas and learning, enriching our proficiency during such a pandemic situation.

The Department of ECE, St. Martin’s Engineering College organized a Five days online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Recent Communication Tools and its Application“ from 19th to 23rd May, 2020.
The FDP was inaugurated by our beloved Principal sir, Dr. P. Santosh Kumar Patra, followed by ten brain-racking sessions presented by real time experienced and knowledgeable technocrats and eminent Professors. We also had a well experienced resource person Dr. Mohit Saini, NIT, Jalandhar, amidst us. More than 1000 participants (Research Scholars/ Professors/ faculty) registered from various institutions all over India, out of which 700 faculty members were shortlisted for FDP.
The Deliberations:
The professors from various NITs, industry and academic institutions have given key notes on “Role of Deep Learning in Communication Systems, Modeling of System by R Language, Image Processing, Phython Programming for Raspberry pi, Recent Trends in Wireless Networks, Embedded Systems & IOT Career Opportunities after Covid- 19, Cloud Computing, Insights of Research Publication – Author/ Reviewer Perspective, Antenna Design for 5G Communication and MEMS Design.
The participating research scholars and the faculty members were well benefited for the opportunity of meaningful interaction afforded in each session of FDP, as could be summed up from the feedbacks received from the participants. The FDP was also live telecast on YouTube channel and Facebook page of our college.
Finally the FDP was concluded with a valedictory session graced by, the Principal, Dr. P. Santosh Kumar Patra, who made a motivational and inspiring address of real life value to the participants. The Department of ECE, St. Martin’s Engineering College has organized a Five days Webinar titled “KNOWLEDGE SHARING SESSION ON RECENT TRENDS AND ITS APPLICATION IN ELECTRONICS” from 3rd to 7th May, 2020.
The webinar started with an inaugural session by our beloved Principal sir Dr. P. Santosh Kumar Patra. Following which were nine knowledgeable and brain-racking sessions presented by erudite and eminent Professors. Amidst we also had a well experienced industry person Mr. Ramakrishna, Engineer Grade-IV, INTEL. More than 400 participants (Research Scholars/Professors/faculty) registered from various institutions from all over India, out of which 200 faculty members were shortlisted for the webinar.
Enlighten on the Cruxes:
The professors from various NITs, Industry and academic institutions have given key notes on “ Regression in Machine Learning, Introduction to Physical Design, Classified Image Compression using wavelets and Neural Networks, MEMS Devices and Micro Sensor”, Beyond CMOS Devices, Analog IC Design” and “Cognitive Radio and 5G”.
Faculty members have learned various concepts related to Machine Learning, image compression, MEMS devices and physical designs. All sessions were completed successfully with the interaction between participants and resource persons. Especially, the research scholars and the faculty members were benefited with each session of the webinar by sharing their ideas. Most of the participants gave their feedback as “the webinar gave real-time experience in recent trends”.
Finally the webinar was concluded by a valedictory given by, the Principal, Dr. P. Santosh Kumar Patra who has motivated and inspired the participants with his inspirational speech. The department of ECE organized one week Faculty Development Program on Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Jointly organized by Electronics & ICT Academies at- IIT Roorkee, MNIT Jaipur, IIITDM Jabalpur and NIT Patna under Scheme of financial assistance for setting up of Electronics and ICT Academies” of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. St. Martin’s Engineering College is identified as one of the remote centres for this one week FDP Program. Total 59 faculty members from various institutions were registered.
The professors from various IITs & NITs have given key notes on Artificial Intelligence basics & Machine Learning.
Faculty members have learned various concepts related to Python, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Classification techniques using Python.
This FDP has also focused on different problem solving techniques in artificial intelligence like heuristic search, adversarial search and game trees, Solution of constraint satisfaction problems using search.
In machine Learning, Faculty members came to know about machine learning techniques like supervised & unsupervised and regression algorithms. During this FDP both theoretical & practical sessions were conducted.

LEDchip group has set irrevocably & firmly India on the GLOBAL LED map by setting up an Ultra-Modern All-Automatic LED plant with Billion LEDs capacity.
The LEDs produced are LM80 certified where the LEDs are subject to 9 months of accelerated Life test under severe conditions of 105oC & 85oC & 55oC - - at temperatures, that are higher than the Hottest part of our country as well as are higher than Boiling Water temperature, they have highest Lumens in their class ensured by the use of high grade Chips, Silicone & Phosphors.
Students of ECE ( II C) along with two faculty members visited LEDchiporganization on 06th September 2019. Students have visited labs related to LED Manufacturing. They have acquired the knowledge about materials used in LED manufacture, Applications of LEDs and future scope of LEDs in the society through this visit. The students are also shown 7-Segment display using LEDs.

Airborne Geophysics (AEM): Time-domain AEM data record changes in ground conductivity to depths of 100 to 300 meters in most environments. Subsurface conductivity is affected by a number of hydro geological factors that include water content, water quality, porosity, lithology, rock fracturing and weathering.

It talks about study of earthquakes and study of sub surfaces of earth to avoid natural calamities and disaster management can be done before destruction.

The event was about remote sensing centers .We honored that NRSC is situated in Hyderabad. We were taught about the achievements of NRSC .We overwhelmed after knowing those facts. The video of launching of the rocket was amazing. We are very glad that we came know all the unknown facts .we also came to know all the facts of satellites and remote sensing areas.

Brief description about the event:
National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), is a full-fledged centres of ISRO. NRSC was
functioning as an autonomous body called National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) under Department of Space (DOS) till August, 2008.
The Centre is responsible for remote sensing satellite data acquisition and processing, data dissemination, aerial remote sensing and decision
support for disaster management. Students had a very good exposure on how the rocket was assembled, loaded and launched. Some scientific facts,
problems encountered and how they were resolved during the launch of “Mangalyaan” in the “Mars Orbiter Mission” to space. The video of successful
launch of 104 satellites in a single launch was also played for us. Three videos were shown on launch and assembly of Satellite and a Power Point
Presentation was delivered including more details regarding the venture. Duration taken to build a GSLV and set up for launch, resolution of captured
images, size and weight ranges of different satellite were also discussed. Detailed explanation was given and doubts raised by students were also
clarified. on a whole it was a very interesting and informative session. We convey our sincere thanks to the Management, the Principal,
the HOD of ECE, the Tour Coordinator, Administrative staff, the Teaching Staff and students for making this tour a grand success.

Brief description about the event:
LEDChip group has set irrevocably & firmly India on the GLOBAL LED map by setting up an Ultra-Modern All-Automatic LED plant with
Billion LEDs capacity.The LEDs produced are LM80 certified where the LEDs are subject to 9 months of accelerated Life test under severe c
onditions of 105oC & 85oC & 55oC - - at temperatures, that are higher than the Hottest part of our country as well as are higher than Boiling
Water temperature,they have highest Lumens in their class ensured by the use of high grade Chips, Silicone & Phosphors. Students of ECE
(II B & II C) along with three faculty members visited LEDCHIP organization on 09th August 2018. Students have visited labs related to LED
Manufacturing. They have acquired the knowledge about materials used in LED manufacture, Applications of LEDs and future scope of LEDs in
the society through this visit. The students are also shown 7-Segment display using LEDs.We convey our sincere thanks to the Management,
the Principal, the HOD of ECE, the Tour Coordinator, Administrative staff, the Teaching Staff and students for making this tour a grand success.

Brief description about the event:
The National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), a constituent research laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial
Research (CSIR) was established in 1961 with the mission to carry out research in multidisciplinary areas of the highly complex structure
and processes of the Earth system and its extensively interlinked subsystems.
Students of ECE (III A & III B) along with four faculties visited NGRI, Hyderabad. Students have visited labs related to seisomology,
ground water management and extraction of minerals. All the students interacted with the officials at NGRI.They have gained knowledge related
to the equipments, powered by Electronic Engineers, which are used in monitoring the earth quakes.

2016-17 Activities
1) The ECE Department has conducted a Guest lecture on “Communication Challenges in Design of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)” by Col. Harmeet Singh Dhot, Retd VSM – Indian Defence on 24-02-2015(Tuesday) to enhance students knowledge in wireless communication in defence areas.
2) The ECE Department inaugurated ISF (IETE Students’ Forum) on Wednesday, 25th March, 2015.

the knowledge in VLSI Design.
